Sharp LC-43CFF5111K Firmware
My old Sharp TV was always quite slow so I started my search for a firmware update quite soon after I bought it but it looked like Sharp never released a firmware update, at least not one that I could find on their website or through the network update feature on the TV itself.
I've owned this TV for a number of years so it is well outside it's warranty but I remember something that Christopher Hitchens once said:
"But in case you are watching this, anybody, and you ever wonder whether to write to anyone, always do because you’d be surprised how much of a difference it can make."
Well, it's 2021 so an online support page submission on Sharp's website will have to do.
I raised a ticket asking if there was a firmware update and was not expecting a response.
Sure enough, I was surprised at how much of a difference it made. They sent me a firmware update (version 1.01) within 24 hours.
Just format a USB pen drive to FAT32 and put this file on the USB pen drive.
Power off the TV at the wall, put the pen drive in to one of the USB ports and power it on. The update starts automatically.
